I want to fly away

If you follow my twitter you may recently have read about my rage with Thomas Cook. The actual process of booking a holiday, you would think, should be easy. The hard part is deciding where to go, where to stay, your budget, what to take etc etc. The deciding click of a 'confirm' button should be the easy part, the bit you look forward to getting done. Not so with TC. Never again will I subject myself to the rigamorole of their website and customer services. Instead, after 4 phone calls, 5 incorrect department transfers, 1 crashing computer and 2 days of waiting around, we went with lastminute.com. And subsequently saved another £50.

But. The exciting thing is that it's booked!! In 5 weeks or so, the boyf and I will be heading off to Venice for 4 lovely days to celebrate our anniversary. Which then begs the question, what to take?

Seeing these beautiful images just fills me with excitement. We'll be catching the end of Carnival Weekend, how wonderfully convenient! Unfortunately, luggage allowance is low, save for spending an extra £20 to take a suitcase. So we're going to be travelling light. Very light. Remember that rucksack I bought not so long ago? It's all about the capsule wardrobes, dry shampoo and eyeliner. Nice.

Given the choice (and a handsome lottery win), I think I'd find myself strolling through Gatwick with this beautiful result of a collaboration between Erdem and Globetrotters.

Granted the special part would be finally getting these beauties to the hotel and opening them to see their wonderful printed glory, but still.

Also, last night I went to see 'The King's Speech,' with Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush, and it was fantastic. Firth was a pleasure to watch, as always. It was difficult not to be swept away in the sheer frustration that he must have felt, to not feel at all confident in fulfilling his duty, resenting the fact he had been born into royalty. Marvelous!

What are you cheeky chaps up to this delightful Friday morning/daytime/evening? Nearly the weekend, hurrah! xox

  2. Oooo I am so very very jealous!! I think we are going to Tuscany in the summer, maybe, maybe. My aunt went to Venice last year, and she said it is amazingly beautiful, tad pricey, but ah well, only 4 days, sheer indulgence. Those suitcases are dream worthy, wow, I bet your clothes wouldn't get creased in one of those bad boys! Hope you have a fantastic, amazing time, so looking forward to carnival pics. xxx

  7. Jealous! you are going to have a fab time.
I always roll my clothes when I pack they don't crease so much then and I wear a lot of layers on the plane. Things like skirts can be worn twice and I try and take shoes that go with everything because shoes weigh a lot. You and your boyfriend should agree on who takes what, only one person needs to take toothpaste etc

  12. Oh you lucky duck! Well, not about the hassle with booking it, but the fact you're going to Venice - ooh I'm full of envy!

Hand luggage size is surprising nowadays - you should be fine with a small case.

  17. The Carnival is pretty rubbish (not that it matters) but it is a nice time of year to go - fractionally less crowded than the summer! My tips (not that you asked for them, but hey) - imo the Frari is one of the most beautiful places in Venice, the campanile at San Giorgio Maggiore gives better views of the city than San Marco, Campo Santa Margherita and the surrounding area is good for pizza, ice cream and nice bars (drink lots of prosecco!). Hope you have a great time! x
