A smelly yet splendid surprise

I've been at home for the past couple of days. I took a train back to the Midlands after a long week at work and a tiresome weekend in the student house. Thankyou all for your last approving comments on my disgust at the notion of my housemates getting a cat for the house. It is now less of an 'announcement' more of a reality. It's called Hugo and is 12 weeks old. Despite myself, it's very cute.

I went home, had a nice afternoon with my Mum, went to walk the dog and forgot about everything that had been eating me up. Which is exactly what going home should be like, right? My Dad even made a pie for me and put a pastry 'c' on top, and I cried. I'm such a girl sometimes gaah! I'm back in Sheffield now, more resolved and more contented. And so the creativity can flooooow again.

Mainly due to the overwhelming nice things that have dropped on my doorstep this week. After a cup of tea and a cry, look at what was awaiting me....

I had won a competition from Rachel and I had completely forgotten about it! It could not have arrived on a better day, so thankyou thrice times my dear Rachel, you and the Lush lot put a huge smile on my face.

What tickled me the most was what the postlady said about the parcel. Our mail doesn't usually get delivered until about 11am, so she said upon arrival "Ooooh I almost don't want to hand this over, it's been sat in the back of my van all morning and it's made it smell lovely!" Bless her! xox

  3. Aww I didn't move far away at uni, but I moved out of home, and that was a big deal for me, I loved going home and my mom cooking me dinner, I do know, and I only live up the road. There's just something about going home that makes you feel human again, my mom always makes me feel better if I'm havin a rubbish time. Your dad sounds like a charming dude, wish mine was like that! What a lovely prize, I did that a few months back, forgot I'd won one, and it arrived and I was like oh yeahhhh YEY. Hope you're ok, and the cat...well, let's just hope they look after it properly eh. xxxx

  7. So jealous you got to go back home. I've only been back in London 3 weeks and already I am desperate to go back up north and have my dad cook me a pie.

  10. I feel your pain! When I got back to my student house after christmas my housemates had moved in the week before and it was already disgustingly messy. I just sat in my living room in amongst all the filth and cried! I hope things look up for you soon :).

  32. Aw, there's nothing quite like going home & having the 'rents look after you. You need a break sometimes, living in a student house can be quite intense sometimes! Now you can relax with all your lush goodies :)

Hmmmmmm, lets just hope little Hugo is going to be well looked after & has been fully insured. Still, at least she didn't get two kittens...
