22nd May Appeal

Hello everyone. A bit of a different post to usual today, hope you don't mind!

I am in the process of organising a fundraising stall back home to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. My stall will specifically be clothes and accessories (surprise surprise) but there will also be a hall filled with books, plants, a raffle, cake stalls and other wonderful treasure troves.

It is being organised at the head by my next door neighbour Linda, a dear family friend whose family has suffered from three, separate types of cancer, within a family of just three of them. All three times have been unrelated, and all three times have been late stage and have required chemotherapy. And all three times they have survived. Because her family has been so thrown by the cancer dragon repeatedly, Linda puts everything she has into fundraising and raising awareness of BBC and what good it can do. Donations are continually needed for support to patients and their families, as well as medical research into cures and methods of treatment. She really is a remarkable lady and this is a remarkable charity.

I am, for once, using this blog for other than my minimal personal gain. I have a lot of faith that I'll be overrun with generosity, so I'll ask my big Q now. To an audience of astute, creative, and generous style gurus,
I am asking you to consider donating an item or two

We're talking dresses, scarves, shoes, bags, tops, skirts... anything (except underwear, that's just a bit weird).

As long as what you are donating is clean, unspoiled and re-sellable condition, I'd be really grateful if you could spare it. I'd even happily pay postage on what you're sending to ensure ease of affording to donate. Everything that is donated will be sold at the sale (held 22nd May in the local village hall, hence the post title) or else will be eBayed and added to the pot, or finally donated to the local Cancer Research shop.

We are approaching Spring, and so in your individual spring cleans you come across an item or two you can live without, and you think might make a difference to the cause, please send it on. And equally if you think you could let your own readers know, by either a blog banner or mentioning in a post, please do. That would be bloomin' marvelous.

If you are up for helping or would just like some more information, please leave a comment below or tweet me. Thankyou all so much for reading! xox

  9. I would be happy to donate a few clothing bits, I really don’t feel like I do my bit for charity- not as much as I would like to anyway. If I have a look (let’s face it my wardrobes a disorganised mess at the best of times) and get back to you. I actually live in Sheffield, so could always find a way of getting it to you or post it to Birmingham, whatevers best for you xx

  13. if i had any of the clothes i didn't actually wear with me at uni then i'd definitely bring them with me when i come over to sheff this weekend and donate them, but my wardrobe here is pitiful. i always donate my clothes to the local charity shop (normally cancer research, actually), so i'll do that when i'm home for easter (: good luck! (i'll tweet about this in a minute) xo

  14. This is the really good and perfect discussion as well and no doubt this is the best approach. This is a excellent subject! It is interesting that it has spanned in a couple of months and it is still quite relevant.

  21. Aw bless you this is awesome and your cakes look fantastic!!

We donate to Christies hospital regularly as I've lost so many family members to cancer and my little boy even gives up most of his birthday money from relatives each year to give to christies (his idea).

You go girl :) Good luck with this xxxx
