Dip-Dye success

I finally did it! I'd been umming and aahing about it for aages but I finally took the plunge with some peroxide blonde hair dye and with the trusty know-how of my hairdresser friend Hannah I am mildly ginger at the ends. Haha. No really it is blond(er) than I am normally, I just think that's the danger when you've had orange hair in the past and you've then dyed over it brunette and again fancy a change.

Either way I'm pretty chuffed with the results. It's fairly natural-looking and I'm glad we took it off five minutes early because as I see it if I want it even lighter I can just do it all over again. It's cheaper than getting it done in the salon after all.

I followed the advice given by LLYMLRS which calmed me down by empahsising how easy the technique was (seriously, it took ten minutes) though TOP TIP I would suggest is to section off the top of your hair and leave the overlapping section un-dyed so that it's more integrated rather than a block colour on the ends. Any of you guys tempted to try dip-dye? I'm loving the low-maintenance appeal I must say, no root touch ups! Hurrah! xox

  12. I can't wait to grow mine and do something interesting. I'm stuck with this short hair forever! I had it cut again today! What's wrong with me!?! The in-between phase is SO HARD!!
And every time I come to your blog I'm jealous of your hair! I'd like to know how to dye hair at home. I'm scared of doing something wrong and end up bald.

  23. Oooh Claire it looks gorgeous! I'm desperate to ombre mine atm, but it's a horrible red colour - the result of too many semi-permanent dyes! Can't wait til i can follow your lead and take the plunge x

  33. Love your new ombre hair, it does look really natural...nice work! I'm tempted to do it but I have the feeling it would go horribly wrong & not look right, so I'm leaving well alone :) Loveee your Topshop dress too, it is Topshop isn't it?

Yeah, kinda looking forward to the royal wedding, would be more so though if I didn't have to work a half day as my boss is too stingy to give her employees the day off! Ah well...

  41. It really suits your hairstyle, very Alexa Chung. I did dip dye mine when it was brown and loved it. It was impossible to cover in red though when I changed the colour.

  46. LLYMLRS was my ombre inspiration too! Think she was alot of people's :] I like the subtlety of leaving the layers ontop free from dye. Mine gets lighter and higher everytime I redo it!
