Treats & Tipples

On Saturday I broke up the monotony of university assignments - yes, in August - by taking my good friend Hannah out to celebrate her birthday. A birthday as big as a 21st deserves much celebration, and in my strange logic I thought that to compensate for missing one friend's birthday (which, because I know you'll be reading, has not gone by forgotten...) it should really be a whopper of a surprise. So I dragged her right to the top of Ecclesall Road to Fired Arts on that hot summer's day and put her entirely on the spot by demanding she pick something to paint that was both imaginative and commemorative, there and then. Ok so it was done with a little more kindness than that ("PAINT bitch!") but she seemed to like it?

I didn't get any brilliant snaps of Hannah's work of art in progress, but I'm due to pick up the finished articles on Saturday and I Cannot. Wait. to see what they look like all fired and varnished. I'm told the pencil marks rub off in the kiln, so my sketchy magpie design will hopefully look a little less messy. I blushed very much when a few ladies in there on a hen party asked if I did Fine Art at uni, ha!

Finished photos to come later in the week anyway, so excited!

Which brings us to the photos of her birthday night out, and this oh-so-attractive mugshot. Can't remember what we were lip-synching to, but clearly having just the Best Time, no?
(LOL at the very unimpressed-looking woman on my right, sorry luv!)
Hannah looking simply GORGEOUS in her new party frock from Ark,
look at that lace detailing on the back, so lovely!
I swore I would never recount the events of this night, simply because I was so horrifically drunk from organic locally-brewed cider (photographic evidence of which to be seen above left) that I couldn't remember for the life of me how I'd managed to get home, and wake up with my house alarm set... from the inside...? A day later and I discover I was "taken home," oh, the shame.

Oh well. Hannah had fun. That's all that matters I suppose. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETAL! xox

  8. Oh I really like the look of Fired Arts. Sadly I am entirely lacking in artistic talent so I'd be absolutely hopeless at it but I can admire other people's work. Your magpie is so well done!
