KARL by Karl Lagerfeld

It's not often I write about the more high-end designer side of fashion. I'm limited with my budget to only find the high street, vintage and good old eBay attainable, but that doesn't mean I can't drool over and dream about some collections. KARL, by Karl Lagerfeld available on Net-A-Porter is one such collection. I've already been chatting with a few bloggers who are a little disappointed (namely Lauren & Lil), but I for one think some of these pieces are great. And if you've seen the collection you'll know why it appeals to me in particular.

LOOK AT ALL THAT LEATHER. The range includes detachable collars (lush), skinny trews, gilets, leather jackets, glittery blazers, jersey dresses and sheer shirts. A bit of a mixture to be sure, but it all comes together so beautifully in this mainly monochrome collection. I don't think I'd be brave enough to wear KARL all in one go, but those gilets. Oh those gilets. I'll take them all. One in every colour please.

Though, as lovely as some of these pieces are, I can't help but agree with some of the criticism. PVC is unnecessary when you have so much other texture to play with (though I do find myself drawn to the PVC armed jumpers - though Sosolo are doing cheaper, and nicer version), and the other reservation I have with this collection is that some of the pieces seem, well, a bit late in the day. This skirt, for example, has had a version in H&M and Primark for months already, with plenty of you stylish lot already blogging about it. Not to mention those prints of Mr L himself; I've seen more innovative designs on bags-for-life than those vests. But, and it's a big but, on the whole, it gets a big thumbs up from me. I can see myself in all of the above (though perhaps not all at once).

You can see the whole collection here. What do you think guys? Drool worthy? xox

  1. Ohhhh, leather collars! I want! But I see what you mean about the pleated leather skirt. I don't know many people who'd be willing to pay £135 for something they could get for a tenner. Although I suppose he could stick his name on used chewing gum and people would buy it!

You are right though, you could pick up quite a lot of these things (well, similar) for a lot less money. It doesn't seem particularly new? =/

  11. Oooh wow I really like this collection! I'm not the sort to splurge on designer ranges even if they are 'concession range' its still totally out of my student budget!
Still gorgeous though, those collars are fab!

  12. dunno about this one, i'm not mega keen on the styles and for some reason it looks a bit cheap to me. not sure if they just don't come across well but i could mistake them for any high street store. better to see in person?

  13. I like the collection but it is hard to be innovative with only black and white and on a budget so I can see why some poeple aren't blown away by it. The collars are lovely and they are all beautiful, simple items x
