All aboard Cleopatra purrs... aha

ATTENTION Britain! It's finally sunglasses weather!

And despite my best attempts to ignore the blinding sunshine when these pictures were taken, it became too much and I ended up pulling this strange sort of salute pose. And they say us bloggers only go for the stereotypical staring-at-the-floor pose. Tish.

This post is mainly to show off my new favourite things. I'll give you three guesses.

Dr Martens are one of the most iconic shoebrands out there, and have stood the test of time in the fickle fashion world, especially this classic 1460 style such as the ones I'm wearing. Apparently, the first pair that came out in the UK did so on my birthday just over 50 years ago. Can you be fated with a pair of shoes? It seems perhaps so.

I have drooled over a pair of Docs for years, ever since my old English teacher tried to encourage all of us in the girls' school to wear them. "Don't totter around in high heels and fetishise your feet, wear Docs and feel EMPOWERED," she would say. As yet, my feet are feeling less empowered more bruised, but I am told with trustworthy authority that after wearing them in, the leather will soften and I'll never want to take them off. And I certainly don't at the moment!

It's not just the shoes of course, but it's wonderful how such a simple thing as dressing to best represent your personality can make you feel so unbelievably ready to face the day. This outfit, which might look scruffy to some, makes me feel myself. I'm comfortable, confident, and I can't ask for more than that. I chose red as an alternative to the classic black - since I have a lot of red in my wardrobe anyway, we were meant to be. Mine are from Bank Fashion (which are cheaper than directly from the Dr. Marten website = win) and as well as the classic pair in black patent, purple and red like mine, they have some especially gorgeous Spring/Summer floral styles which I also love.

I can see these becoming a regular feature on this blog. Everyone has a story about their pair of Docs, and I'd love to hear what you think about this instantly recognisable boot, and whether you have any stories of your own. I love the Agyness Deyn video of her 'first time,' tell me about yours? xox

  8. I used to adore my Dr Martens (I had several pairs) when I was a young teen, but I must admit I only really dig them out now when its snowing/pissing it down... I don't know why I don't wear them anymore really. I worry my legs are too stumpy for them and that I might look a bit like a lesbian!

  10. What a lovely place to take photos!
I love my Dr Martens, I wore the same basic black pair to school and college for years. Really fancy a pair of the black patent ones now.
It DOES get better, they won't rub for long xx

  16. This is my favourite outfit of yours that I've seen so far! Bear with the Doc's for they are worth all the bruising and blisters and will soften up in time!

Also, I absolutely love the salute pose. Who knows? It might take off across the blogging world? ;) xx

  20. Hiya
Don't worry wearing them in won't take too long....I promise ;) I have a bright blue pair of DM's, I got them for my birthday the first year of college in September and never took them off for two years!!! My Mum actually hid them from me last year in the summer so I would have to wear something else on my feet :) True love <3

  23. you pull them off so well! Such a cool grungy look :)

I had 2 pairs of DMS when I was a teenage goff. I wore them almost every day. Nowadays I'm a bit scared of wearing them for some reason! I'm trying to work them into more outfits though.
