Filling a gap

It may be hard to believe, friends, but for fashion blogger, I don't have a lot of shoes.

Yep. That's it. Including the pair on my feet, I have a measly 16 pairs of shoes. 3 of which were bought/given literally in the last week. You might think I'm more of a bag person to counterbalance this unusually small collection* but I don't even have many of them either. To tell the truth, I'm more of a buy-a-pair-and-wear-em-to-death kinda gal. I had my old beloved Chelsea boots reheeled a grand total of 7 times before I finally decided they'd had it. I think what tipped me over the edge was the cobbler actually refusing to work on them again, no lie.

*I am presuming that other bloggers have entire Carrie rooms full of shoes. I may be off the mark of course, how many do you have out of interest?

My favourites at the moment comprise of these three, from right - the replacement Chelseas from Schuh sale, leopard print suede boots from Internacionale, and my gorgeous Docs. They're all quite heavy duty, weather worthy shoes, but not particularly smart either.

Last week I had two interviews, which consequently meant I had to look smart for about 4 hours at a time. It was a challenge enough to not habitually wear my denim shorts, but shoes I really struggled with. Aside from my brogues on the second shelf (which are a size too small, so I'm not sure if that counts) there are no power pumps here.

Having realised that my collection is very clearly full of "student shoes," this post marks the first of a collaboration with Spartoo, in my quest to track down a more work-worthy shoedrobe.

I'm usually quite an impulse shopper, and not very strategic either. But laying EVERYTHING I own out made it easy to see what I was missing. Smart flats! Unwilling to buy boring black lace-ups for the sake of it, here is my first addition to the shoedrobe.

Aren't they pretty? They're a delicious coral colour with a patent toe, and will look fab with tapered trousers. I used to wear shoes like this all the time before I really 'got into shopping', but I'm sad this ballerina style got forgotten about. The only problem is that unless I wear socks, my tattoo will be on show. Best start saving for some lace-ups anyway then... What shoes are missing from your collection? xox

  1. I wish I had shoes that would fit so easily on a shoe rack that size! I probably have about 30 pairs but I don't really wear them all and probably need to throw a load of them out!

  2. I'm not going to even dare and count how many pairs I own. I think it's much better to choose wisely (like you have done) and wear shoes into the ground, rather than have loads of shoes that you just don't wear (like I have done).

I suffer from the foot tattoo problem too, at my last job I had to wear thick black tights ALL THE TIME so people couldn't see it. It was not too comfortable when the sun shined (as rare as that may be)!

  3. I don't have many pairs of shoes either! I have my beloved Dr Martens and a pair of converse, and a few pair of smarter shoes. I am starting to buy more now thanks to my student loan haha! :P I really like your new flats, they're definitely something I'd wear! :)

  4. You really don't have many but that's so good as I have about 30 pairs + and it's impossible to fit them all in my room and therefore I don't wear many of them! Such a waste. Really must have a clear up x

  5. I think I own between 8-10 pairs of shoes? That's only because I'm a complete eBay fiend and I'll sell shoes I don't wear :)

  6. I realised last year that I didnt have very many pairs of shoes. I have slowly been trying to build up a more versatile collection of shoes but like you I tend to like something and wear it to death and everything else sits around. I definitely dont have a Carrie still wardrobe.

  7. love the ones, very pretty colour <3 I don't have that many shoes either, especially in summer time I really don't have that many, and tend to throw out sandals after one season. I only wear about 3 different boots in Winter either! x

  8. Ooh good post, I have a lot of shoes but tend to stick to wearing them same ones over and over! Probably because the rest of them are completely impractical.

  9. oh lord... I own so many pairs of black pumps and heels I can't walk in. What size shoes are you? found a great pair of pewter pointy lace ups in the attic last week from Shelly's that I never wear that would look fab on you. Size 8 though.
Spartoo sell Clarks and I got a pair of these http://www.spartoo.co.uk/Clarks-COCOA-CREME-x69625.php and they last for ages xx

  10. I don't have many pairs of shoes either - my feet are skinny so unless they have a strap or lace, they will fall off my feet!
Those pumps are SO pretty, I love the colour! Xo

  12. I probably have just as many as you actually. I tend to wear certain pairs to death and only really buy ones when they're falling apart lol
Though to be fair I have a mother and sister with the same size feet as me so there's a lot of sharing in our house.

  13. you have such a lovely and mixed collection of shoes! before i started blogging i literally had two pairs, but now i reckon i've got just a few less than you. saying that, most are heels i can't really walk in, so i only have about three pairs which i wear regularly! xxx

  14. I have about 20 pairs I reckon! I used to have loads of high heels but an accident left me with a bad back so now I can't wear them, so mostly my collection comprises brogues, loafers and slipper shoes with a chelsea boot or two thrown in!
Similar colour palette to yours though....leather and suede, tan, brown, black, taupe, burgundy...! xxxx

  15. Oooh, I like the look of your collection. I own barely any pairs of shoes...way under 10. I'm not even a bag person either :/ I just don't take pleasure in having mounds of stuff that takes up too much space!

Oh goodness pair of me wishes I only had a few pairs of shoes... but the truth is they are everywhere, I have a shoe stand which is full, bottom of the wardrobe full, 2 boxes under the bed full and summer shoes in the loft... Shoes are my thing. I can't stop myself from buying them! Half of them I don't wear but I can't bring myself to throw them away. :S I'm looking for some nice vans atm too :P x
