Next A/W 12 Press Day

LOOK AT ME OUTSIDE SOMERSET HOUSE! I know my face screams nonchalance but at this moment in time I can promise you I am very, very giddy.

Floral dress - Vintage
Denim jacket - Borrowed from my housemate (Thanks Soph x)
Rucksack - Vintage eBay
Platform Chelsea boots - H&M

It's an exciting day for me! I've never been to LFW before (amateur blogger alert) so it was a brilliant opportunity to hang out somewhere I have seen photographed so many times on street style blogs. Thanks Eloise for taking this snap for me too! I appreciate this is probably sounding quite gushy right about now but SOMERSET HOUSE GUYS!

The real reason for me to head down to London was for the Next AW12 press day, which seemed very unnatural to think of rifling through knitwear in this beautifully hot weather! All the same, the afternoon was really fun; I got to hang out with some real bloggy babes (Eloise, Stacey, Lyzi to name a few), sip raspberry champagne cocktails on the balcony, and peruse the Autumn/Winter range to hit the shops later in the year. And ladies, you're in for a real treat.

Unfortunately I left before the cake was cut, but to be honest it's so pretty intact!

Loved the print of these skinny trousers, part of the 30 year Next collection.

It was so strange seeing coats and tweed and knit on such a gorgeous day, but that didn't stop me from compiling a mental wishlist for later on in the year. I have found my future coat as seen above on the mannequin, and the white jumper a few images above was so soft, really luxe!

Of course, it wouldn't sound like me if I didn't show you my top leather-y picks. I fell in love with this faux-leather jacket and for £50 it is definitely going to be on top of my wishlist in the Autumn. And these boots are the perfect mix of comfort and style, with a platform and a chunk heel these were my top pick of shoes!

There was a definite 1920s feel to some of the collection, with Peppy Miller hats, and oversized leather suitcases, loafers and suede driving gloves. It was grown up but still with oodles of personality (a dash of leopard-print here, sequins on an oversized clutch there). I love the idea of miniature suitcases such as the one above left - if only to carry my lunch in!

Finally, the homeware section, which I'm sure any of us could spend hours poring over. I've recently been planning the redecoration of my bedroom back home, so I came away from the Next Press Day with so much inspiration. And aren't those Eiffel Tower mugs adorable?

A big thankyou to Gem, Ellie and the rest of the Next team for inviting me and making the afternoon possible. I'm always impressed with brand ambassadors who not only go the extra mile to make events special, also happen to be incredibly lovely and so easy to hang out with! Big love, Next. xox

  1. Ooh I love those patterned skinny trousers! Can't wait for those to appear in the shops... although at the same time I really don't want to wish away the summer!

  2. I've been invited to my first 'official' top blogger thing, the Debenhams A/W press day, but in the last few days I have actually found out I am moving in a few weeks and so now can't go due to needing to sort my life out! I am so disappointed!
I freaking LOVE those leopard print loafers, and if I had the thighs for them, I would totally be rocking those trousers.

  4. I remember going to Somerset House for London Fashion Weekend last year getting so giddy walking around the courtyard ^_^ it's perfectly fine to get excited about that kind of thing, we're fashion bloggers!
Totally agree with you about seeing tweed and knits when it's about 25 degrees outside at the moment. Though I do love the whole 20's feel of the collection :) xoxo

  7. I rarely go into next but I think I'll have to change my shopping habits after seeing this sneaky preview, it looks so nice! And I think I'd be exactly the same outside of Somerset House - it's iconic, even to someone who isn't a dedicated fashion blogger! (: xx
