Wishlist: Graduation Shoes

Today is my LAST ever exam at university. No more lectures, no more seminars, no more annoying library fines. Come 4pm today and I will be freeeeeee. I've done all the revision I can stand (what I don't know now, I never will), so it has left me with a few hours to think about what is next for me on the horizon. The final goodbye and celebration (hopefully), will be my graduation, and anyone who knows me will know that there's one thing in particular I'm looking forward to in preparation of that big day : hunting for my shoes!

I've always quite liked the idea of getting a ridiculously mad pair for my graduation. It makes me smile to think that no-one will be looking at my feet in that scroll photo, only I, and my baffled family, will know what delights are just out of shot. It's my equivalent of a prom dress, I think. Obviously I need a pair of heels I can walk in to guarantee against any horrifically embarrassing scenes where I fall flat on my face just as I'm about to shake the Chancellor's hand. And it's in November so skimpy strappy sandals are a no-no. But a bit of personality, please.

This is where Irregular Choice come in. Arguably the most ornate and dazzling footwear brand on the high street, I've always thought my dream pair might just be found in their colourful range. And maybe people on the day might be so in awe of my feet, they might no notice how nervous and bright red I inevitably go.

Here is my shortlist so far. What d'you reckon? What shoe memories do you have? xox

  4. those shoes are amazing! Make sure you lift your gown a bit when you're taking the photos! ha.

Also, make sure they are super comfy. On my graduation I stupidly wore some really high Primark shoes and the walk across stage felt like a lifetime...

  5. All of these are so much fun and would complete any outfit! And the heel height doesn't look too bad, would definitely suit the occasion!

  7. I've bought some black suede courts. Stupid ancient universities with their monochrome rules. I love the Black Best of All!

  8. Wish I'd thought of this when I graduated last year... I spent days and days hunting for the perfect outfit only to have the person who put my robe on me fasten it all up so in the end all you could see were my shoes. Which, incidentally, were black and very boring.

  9. Congrats on finishing uni! Good plan on the shoes, your robes cover most of your outfit! The silver can't touch this are my favourites :)

  10. I had a pair of electric blue metallic shoes from IC for my prom which matched my dress perfectly. Sadly however, I have never managed to wear them since, as they were so uncomfortable! These however look much better.
I would go for the polkadot pair :)

  12. The choice in wardrobe gives people a glimpse of how you want people to treat you and see you as. The way those shoes are so unique and surprising definitely gives an impression of a spontaneous and fun person in you.

  17. I love admiring Irregular Choice shoes but I they're outside my price range and I can't imagine I can walk in them.

But I'm imagining my graduation choices as well and I'm leaning towards my dress being orange - providing there's no restrictions on colours (which as far as I know there's not) and maybe some wedges. My graduation will (hopefully) be July (providing no re-sits) so should be free of the freezing elements (but I do live in Scotland lol!)

  18. I absolutely love irregular choice. I remember my friend had a pair of leopard print flats and they'd sold out in schuh. I spent 2 years hunting them down on ebay and now finally have my hands on them :D they're so crazy but at least you know you'll stand out and what better way to stand out than amazing shoes :D xx

  19. Congratulations on getting to graduation! I love this idea - I was all about the accessories the day I graduated too - you've gotta do something to stand out amid the sea of robes! Whatever you pick, make 'em comfy - it's a looooong day :)

  23. I bought myself some Irregular choice shoes as a reward for myself for getting a 2:1 in my degree - I was going to wear them to graduation but they are seriously tricky to walk in! I love all of your choices, I think Silver Mrs Blewett are my faves :) x

  24. I wore a patent black pair from KG as my uni was pretty strict and insisted on the whole black and white theme BUT so many people ignored this and wore bright shoes to graduation! At Birmingham, your shoes are definitely noticeable when you go up to the podium to receive your handshake off the university chancellor! Quite fun seeing people's shoes!
