Lace and Leather

This week I've been at the Next HQ, interning in their PR & Marketing department. It's so brilliant to know I start my permanent job in two weeks, but since I'd arranged this placement before I was offered a job, I thought it would still be great experience to go along anyway!

On Tuesday they're shooting an exciting party-season video which is all very hush hush, so I've been running around collecting samples and generally trying to help wherever I can. (Including blogging for Next, which is rather cool!) I can reveal - there is lots of glitter, lots of sparkle, and SO MANY beautiful shoes to come out over the next few months!

Faux Leather Jacket - c/o French Connection
Tamara Lace Skirt - Phase Eight
Breton T-shirt - H&M
Boots - c/o Tribecca UK

Phase Eight isn't usually a brand I shop with, but I could no resist this gorgeous lace pencil skirt. It's high-waisted on me and the lace overlay is really beautiful. My Mum commented that it's not the style I usually go for; it would be easy to wear it with a blouse and add another 10 years on definitely. For me, anything past the knee is a brave choice since my pins are pretty stumpy without a pair of elongating heels!

I'd been after a good quality faux-leather piece for AGES (if you are a regular reader of my blog you will know my love of pleather runs deep) so when French Connection contacted me to see if I wanted to sample a piece from their AW12 collection, it was a snap decision. To surmise, this jacket will have to be surgically removed, I think.

I'm going to be on the look out for a floaty, nude, lace dress to accompany this jacket now I think. I get paid in just over a month and I am already planning a wishlist to spend my first wages haha!

  2. I've been loving longer lengths when it comes to skirts, lately, and it's so unlike me. Must be something in the water! Haha. Such a lovely outfit, and your placement sounds like a great experience :)

  11. The title is also the name of a Britney song, thought you might like to know ;) I basically love all of this and I want it all. All classic pieces in their own right but work together well. The skirt would look lovely with a simple cami underneath with a blazer for a meal out too xx

  14. Everything about that skirt is absolutely beautiful! Looks great on you. I also have stumpy leg syndrome but due to being ridiculously incapable of walking in shoes like yours (as much as I love them!), fancy longer skirts still remain uncharted territory for me. Waaah.

  16. Lovely outfit Claire, very classy but also cool! I bought a pair of black jeans from Phase Eight when I was with my mum once and I can safely say they are my favourite jeans! No overhang muffin top with them, nice and high waisted for a middle aged tum!
