Yeah, there's blood on the wall but I'm happy

Evening chickens! No doubt the above bits and pieces will appear in outfit posts over the next few weeks - these are my latest buys. I've not been able to post as much lately because of the rubbish weather and getting home at stupid o'clock, but this at least gives you a flavour.

Grey tweed blazer - New Look
Leopard print shirt - Kim's blog shop
Car print shirt - Primark
Necklace - c/o Jon Richard

I've been thinking a lot lately about my blog and where to go with it next. In part I was inspired by Gem's post about going back to the reason why we all started blogging in the first place. Jazzpad had always been a diary and I've tried to keep it as "me" as I possibly could. I don't know about you all but alongside working full-time and everything else I do (Modern Girls' Guide, Exposed) it can be incredibly difficult to keep up that momentum. Especially when you're stuck in a rut and have a pile of stuff or tickets to events you feel guilty about not writing about yet.

How did I get to this? I used to write reams and reams about sartorial confidence, about street art, about getting sweaty at DFA gigs. I'm worried my blog is running away with me, almost writing itself and dictating my fingers. I'm probably analysing the whole scenario because I'm exhausted (with a twitchy eye to show for it), but I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm going to turn this around, and bring the blog back to me, because it's my blog.

I bloody love clothes. I get the same rush as you do when I my swollen feet betray the signs of a lunchtime shopping trip. But I like other stuff too. Like Florence and the Machine, like my ginger labrador, like the countryside and blackberries and independent shops and my lovely curly haired boyfriend and tattoos and green tea and Franz Ferdinand and swearing. I don't ever want this blog to define me, but I want to reflect me again, just a little more.

So here I am. With a post about my latest shopping finds, but with a bit of personality too. Hi there.
Claire x

  1. And this is why I have loved you and your gorgeous blog from day 1! You have such confidence and I can't wait to see even more of that coming through :)

    Maria xxx

  2. That grey blazer is totes amaze! Thanks for the link to the post :) I think your blog has remained consistent throughout, I love it xx

  3. Aw this was a really sweet post. I feel like mine has gone the same way too. I have blog posts scheduled for the next two weeks, I still have bags of things to photograph and things to collect from my parents. It's just too much sometimes. I took a mini break just before Christmas and it really did some good. I felt a lot less pressure and had more time to read other blogs. Whereas now it's mounting up again! It's good to take a step back and adjust occasionally :)

Love you long time Claire! And thank you for linking to my shop you babe xxx

  4. Love the blazer, it's super cute. I think your blog is you sweetie, your a kitten and I think your blog has always been true to you xxx

  5. Sounds like you're going in a fantastic direction getting back to your blogging roots... Your personality really comes through in a lot of your posts anyway (and it seems fab... Why I enjoy your posts so much!) so it'll be great to see it shine through even more :)

  6. I would quite happily steal the lot of this.

  7. What a great post! :) I absolutely adore the car print shirt and I also went to see DFA that time they did the tour! So great! xo

  8. I think you always inject some personality into your blog! Hopefully you'll get it back to how you want it soon :) it can be really easy to lose faith in your own blog! xxx

  9. Lots of goss for when I see you next but I've been super busy recently and I've taken a bit of a break, just posting when I can and doing a bit more on instagram and tumblr in between. It's hard to get a personality across through a blog but you do it very well. Your blog, along with Miss Cohen and Maria's are always ones I just type into a search engine and browse when I'm looking for some inspiration and a good read. I always enjoy blogs more id they talk about a variety of things, fashion alone can be a bit dull xx

  10. yay I'm definitely with you on this Claire, though I find your blog is always full of your personality, but it is so easy to get into the rut of outfit post after outfit post, and forgetting all the other stuff we love! xx

  11. I actually have a smile on my face reading this post. Personally, I am only interested in blogs that have personality! We can all write about things we think we SHOULD write about, but who wants to read that?? I would love to hear about your ginger lab and your curly dude and everything you love =) Go for it!! xx

  12. whhoa, car print shirt! that's a mega find, reminds me of the one i saw in florida in january

I'd love something like that, I'd want an old school open collar i reckon. I don't think you need to worry, you always seem to have interesting content, i do know what you mean though. it aint easy when you work FT

  13. Those shirts are amazing! I'm so with you on this, my blog started out as a place to write about life, things I loved etc. and turned into a 'fashion only' zone. Recently I've taken it back to its roots and I'm much happier :) I've always loved your blog though! Hope you get it back to where you want! xx

  14. Hi there ;) I love the car print shirt! I think it's good to mix it up a little and show your personality, at the end of the day it's all about having fun!

  15. i do love your tweed blazer!

  16. I absolutely adore that grey blazer! I thought it might have been from COS or H&M!

    XOXO Sade
