Sneak into my room, under the covers

My room

Since graduating I moved back in with my parents and now everything I own is tucked away somewhere in my room I had since I was 9 years old. It makes for a frustrated existence at times, as despite sharing an en suite with my brother and a built-in cupboard big enough to have a boogie around in, it never feels like I have enough space!

We've all got a bit of nosiness in us, and having a peek in someone's bedroom can be the best way to find out more about them. If my room reflected my personality, it would be: messy, colourful, nostalgic and loyal. I'm quite a hoarder, so when Ikea launched their video campaign with a fashion blogger entitled "Jess's trainers", I thought it would be a great opportunity to show you guys where I rest my head, and some of the corners I love in my bedroom.

Here's the Ikea campaign. I don't usually embed videos in my posts (and I don't have the courage or inclination to get into 'vlogging' myself), but I thought it really got under the skin of a girl like me with just too much stuff haha!

What's the favourite parts of your room? I would love to be the girl with the all white furniture and a minimal, capsule collection on a single rail, but pfft. That just isn't going to happen.

  1. Oh I love your little nook! So perfect for reading. I'm a complete nosey parky too and love seeing people's bedrooms. Yours looks lovely and cosy. Being surrounded by special possessions comforts me, and takes away the anxieties of a stressful day. The word you used - 'loyal' - is absolutely true. Great word to describe the way I feel about my personal space too x

  2. I love seeing people's stuff, I'm so nosey!
My room is just how I've always wanted it since we moved house. I've got some dusky purple and cream walls with mismatched second hand cupboards and a lovely big New Order print I got at Bestival last year on my wall. The rest of my house is black and white and very minimal but my room is messy and full of STUFF, perfect xx

  3. Your room is so lovely (I'm a massive clutter bug so it's nice to see someone with a room as jam packed as mine!). I love that ikea vlog... I would happily live in an ikea shop if I could- the storage solutions mesmerise me haha!

  4. I love having a look in other people's houses, I'm so nosey. I would not cope if I had to move back into my old bedroom though. I am just in the process of moving the last of my things out of one of the family homes we had when I was growing up, and it's meant a whole new wardrobe of stuff is now in the middle of my flat, waiting to be sorted out and stored somewhere.

  5. Aw your room is so cute! I love these kinds of posts, I think I must just be a very intrinsically nosey person! I'm sort of dreading the move back home after uni... my room at home always looks lovely and tidy due to all my stuff being spread across that and my uni room... have no idea where its all going to go! Although, you can never beat some well placed clutter!

  8. Wow - that's a lot of trainers!

I am the complete opposite of a hoarder.. I like to keep our home and bedroom clutter free. If I haven't used something for a few months, off to the charity shop it goes! :)

  10. Love your little place by the window it looks perfect for sitting there with a book and cup of tea! My dream house/room would also be white with white furniture and colorful accessories and that nice and clean feeling. I'm moving in with my boyfriend this summer so that dream will probably go out the window, he's a hoarder and has a 'floordrobe'. Sigh

  13. Ooh your room looks great and is brimming with character! That window bench is adorable and must be so handy with the storage boxes underneath!

I know all about getting clever with storage seeing as I am back living with my parents these days and my room is teeny tiny, but my furniture is big and my quantity of stuff is massive.

Your shoe collection is definately something to drool over and I'm loving the starbucks sign and the dinosaur!

  15. Oh I'd die for your window seat, it's gorgeous! Your room is lovely, it's so personal. I've always found that even with more space I have too much stuff - I don't think that will ever change! x
