My new home

Flat!New flatFlat!

Just over a month ago now me and my boy moved in together.
There was a time when I never thought it would happen, and when all around me my friends were moving in with their other halves it was so frustrating not to have that chance due to work commitments miles apart. Finally, we just thought "sod it", saved some pennies and fell in love with a flat in a converted brewery. Getting to that point did involve a shouting match in our underpants, I'm not going to lie, but aside from a blazing row about which way round the dining table should go (not even joking), we've settled in beautifully. He brings me cups of tea all of the time, doesn't mind that I kick in my sleep, and lets me watch Made in Chelsea. In return, he has his FIFA nights, I don't mind that he wakes me up at 6.30 every morning, and he gets to choose the majority of the decorations because, quite frankly, he's paying more rent than me. Domestic bliss eh?

So here is a first look around our new place. It's a one-bed apartment and is just the right size. The second photograph up there is of my vintage floral doormat which was the first thing to go down when I got my keys - that and a bunch of daffodils to make the place feel more homely. It was a gift from Out There Interiors who you might have seen on a few blogs lately, including Maria's and her amazing "M" light. Out There stock lots of unusual home accessories and I was almost going to go for the hanging light shade - but I'm glad I didn't because our ceilings are just so high it would have been a nightmare trying to fit them!

Flat!Flat!Flat!

What do you think? 5 weeks or so in and it definitely feels like home. There's a happy balance between his stuff and mine, and I am just so grateful for all of the support friends and family have offered. Whether it's a card through the post, donations of furniture, or blood, sweat and tears on moving day (thanks Dad), everyone has just been awesome.

Next, we're looking for two prints to put up above the TV. I'm desperate for an A1 Amelie print so if you see one I can order online, please let me know! I think Liam's going to go for something Sci Fi-y, if I know him well enough it will be something like Star Wars or 2001: A Space Odyssey, so we'll see!
