Dressing the part | Hobbs
Every now and again a style catches my attention, and, like a child, I completely obsess over it until I've moved on to the next sartorial discovery. Earlier this year, it was white trainers, and this month, it's simple, oversized t-shirt dresses. I blame all of the hot weather we've been having. I'm not happy with anything too clingy on the skin, and dressing smartly for work sans trousers or tights has left me stumped.
Cue Hobbs, and their delectable range of summer dresses. This store is pretty aspirational for me. I love the idea of dressing the part of a young professional, and have always admired the likes of Maria for appropriate style inspiration (her colour coordination is unmatched, people). Plus, to go down my favourite look of the year, sports luxe, I can team this kind of shift dress with my beloved high tops, and still tick a trend box in the process.
My pick of the best was really hard to narrow down, but ultimately my eyes are always drawn to unusual textures and patterns, and plenty of black, white and blues. I'm still loving bloggers all in white (Kavita, I'm looking at you) and I try to dip my toe in print clashing as inspired by Susie Bubble and Lucy.
Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to have a boyish figure to pull this kind of dress off either. I certainly have curves, but it's more about attitude, and practicality. If I can run a million errands, be comfortable in a client meeting, on a sofa brainstorming, or out collecting prints in town, all happily in one frock, that suits me perfectly.
What do you think guys? Do you like the t-shirt dress?
