Sheffield-opoly

Ever loved your home town so much you fancied immortalising it in a Monopoly game?

I'm the Grazia local ambassador for my beloved Sheffield, plus I'm the resident street style photographer for Exposed magazine. It's no secret my love of Sheffield knows no bounds, so, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to keep my memories of my favourite haunts fresh in a board game forever more!

Gala bingo kindly sent me this make-your-own set so I could design my own board, featuring the places most special to me. The hard part was narrowing it down! Here are just a few of my top picks from in and around Sheffield. I know lots of you have expressed a desire to visit one day, so with these 9 places to start off, you have no excuse!

From top left: Cocoa on Ecclesall Road, A New Shop, Showroom Cinema, Exposed Towers, Bungalows & Bears, Freshmans Vintage, Birds Yard, the Botanical Gardems, and the Harley. With a gratuitous shot of my old housemates in their scurf band playing there, called Best Friends.

If you had a Monopoly board of your favourite place, what would you include? I've tried to create a mix of eating, drinking, shopping and sightseeing, but the crazier the better, I want your recommendations!

  1. Make your own manopoly? That sounds genius, not sure if my town would make for a great one though.

  2. That does sound like a good idea. I've put together a monopoly around London in the past for a group of Rangers to take part in, and have taken part in one around my county and one in Birmingham, all guiding events and all very fun.

  3. Sounds amazing, I'd love to do one for my little hometown, Midsomer Norton - just outside of Bath :)

  4. I got this for Christmas when I was about 10, and just made the board all about me, and stuck photos of my friends and me on the squares and stuff, ha. I'm too ashamed to look at it hahah

  5. Wow, this is so clever haha! Hmmm, I think I'd want a world one so I could include all the cool countries I've visited. ;)

  6. This is such a clever idea! I went to Uni in Bangor, North Wales and I would have loved to have made one of these with all the memorable places I used to visit when I lived there. There's that many pubs in Bangor I probably could have made a monopoly board just including them haha.
