We all know that smells are linked to memory, and even more so when it's relating to a person. I still remember my Mum's special "going out" scent when I was younger, when she'd wear her black fur collar coat and her eyelashes were longer than usual. It was an expensive, decadent smell - she doesn't remember what brand it was exactly, but I know for sure when I smell it again, I'll know.
So for me, perfume isn't really about what it smells like - more about what it reminds you of.
Valentina Acqua Floreale smells like Spring. Which is an incredibly broad description but true. It reminds me of sitting in my Dad's allotment right next to the wild flower fields. Where my parents live the land is quite hilly, so when the wind comes down the whole village can smell like flowers, or bonfires, or hay drying. You city folk are missing out!
I don't even need to mention the box - it's the most beautifully presented set I think I've ever seen! Because my memory of expensive smells is infrequent, I associate the nicer ones with "special" occasions. This one will come out at weekends and evenings, rather than just for work - sorry office pals.
